The chairman of Emohua local government area, Dr Chidi Lloyd has dismissed the rumoured existence of a splinter political group within the People’s Democratic Party PDP in Emohua LGA known as the Atiku Mandate Group, describing the news as the handiwork of failed and unpopular politicians in the area whose stock in trade is to deceive members of the unsuspecting public with fabricated information to score cheap political points.
Dr Chidi Lloyd at a media briefing in the Emohua council secretariat on Wednesday said the PDP in Emohua LGA is resolute in their support for the leadership of Governor Nyesom Wike, under the chairmanship of Amb. Desmond Akawor, emphasizing that the party in the area will always remain united and formidable in their support for Gov Nyesom Wike’s leadership.
He maintained that no genuine member of the PDP across the 14 political wards in the Emohua local government area would have any reason whatsoever to disrespect the leadership of Gov Nyesom Wike, whom he said has been magnanimous to the people of the area, both in project distribution and political recognition.
He added that no amount of distraction would be enough to dither the PDP family in Emohua LGA from ensuring that the governorship candidate, Sir Siminialayi Joseph and other candidates of the party in Rivers State are returned elected with a convincing victory across the local government area in the 2023 general election.
The council chairman warned that his administration will not hesitate to deal decisively with any group or individual that tries to disturb the peace and security of the area under any guise, stressing that the full weight of the law will be visited on anyone found instigating crisis to sabotage his administration’s commitment to sustaining peace and security in the LGA, no matter how highly placed in the society.
Also speaking, the vice chairman of PDP in Emohua LGA, Jim Morrison said the PDP in the area is working towards the victory of its candidates in line with the directive of the leader of the party Governor Nyesom Wike.
He said it was very unfortunate that people can go as far as writing the names of others as members of a non-existing group without their permission.
Meanwhile, some PDP stakeholders in Emohua LGA whose names were listed as members of the Atiku Mandate Group have disassociated themselves from the group in Rivers State, denying ever attending any meeting convened in the name of the group.
PDP leader in ward 12 Ubimini, Chief Humphrey Ogbuehi at the media briefing said he is not aware of the existence of any group called Atiku Mandate in Emohua LGA.
He vowed to unmask and punish whoever shortlisted his name as a member of the non-existing group with every means available to him.
Refuting his rumoured membership of the Atiku Mandate Group, the councillor representing Obelle ward 5, Hon Henry Eferebo said he is not a member of any group with such a name. He challenged those linking him to the group to come up with evidence to justify their claim.
Also, Governor Nyesom Wike’s liaison officer in Ward 4 (Emohua), Mr Wosu Orlu, and the PDP chairman in ward 7 Rundele, Vincent Alete Wuzor said those who shortlisted them as members of the non-existing group in Emohua LGA are only seeking attention, describing those behind the propaganda as irrelevant characters attempting to use their names to get undeserved attention in the area.
They said the only political group known and acceptable in Emohua LGA is the Grassroot Development Initiative GDI which they’re unrepentant and committed members.
They also submitted copies of their affidavit, dissociating themselves from the non-existing Atiku Mandate Group.
